25 or 50 kg: choosing the bag size for your production

Bag size looks like a detail until the first month of work. It affects speed, injuries and write-offs.

The 25 kg bag

Physically convenient: one person carries it without risking their back, an opened bag is used up quickly, and the remainder is less exposed to moisture. Forty bags to a pallet — about a tonne. It suits small bakeries, coffee shops, restaurant kitchens and anyone running several grades at once. We supply bran in this size only — the product is bulky and light.

The 50 kg bag

Less packaging per tonne and fewer handling operations at volume. Twenty-four bags to a pallet — about 1,200 kg. It pays off in a steady flow where a single grade is consumed within shifts, there is handling equipment and the warehouse is prepared for it.

How to choose

  • Less than a bag of one grade per day — take 25 kg.
  • No equipment for moving loads — take 25 kg; the saving on 50 kg is eaten up by time and risk.
  • High humidity in the room — 25 kg, an opened bag turns over faster.
  • One grade, high throughput, a proper warehouse — 50 kg.

Mixing formats is perfectly normal: the base grade in 50 kg, everything else in 25 kg.
